Cold Water Incapacitation – know the signs, treatment and how to avoid it.
* Refresh and Improve your Safety this Winter *
Are you planning to swim well into, or through this coming winter season? Do you know the signs and treatment of someone (or yourself) that has been in too long? Could you successfully manage their care and recovery? You will by the end of this workshop!
Swimming in the winter can feel like a whole different thing compared to summer. It's colder! Time in water is much shorter and the risks are greater But it is also exhilariating and fun.
We know that most of the issues this cold water season WILL be caused by cold water incapacitation.
We are holding a 1-hour land based session to upskill swimmers ready for the cold-water winter season. This will improve your knowledge, understanding and practical application of the theory for Longside Lake swimmers so that you can keep yourself safe and your fellow swimmers safe and gain maximum enjoyment and benefit this season.
Saturday 18th October 10-11am. £10
This will be a structured session focusing on the impact of cold water incapacitation, with time to ask questions and chat with other swimmers.
Embrace Adventures Open Water Swimming Coaches and endorsed by the STA to deliver cold water swimming sessions.
